Nagpur: The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the allotment of 28 hectares of govt land free of cost at Moshi for setting up an extended academic and training campus of IIM Nagpur. Moshi was chosen for its strong connectivity to Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, and Mumbai, as well as its industrial base and growing IT ecosystem, offering students closer industry linkages.BJP MLA Mahesh Landge had pursued the proposal with CM Devendra Fadnavis to bring an IIM campus to Pimpri-Chinchwad. Under the decision, the land in Moshi (Haveli taluka) will be allotted free of premium and occupancy charges. The occupancy value, estimated at around ₹186 crore, will be waived and treated as the state’s equity in the institute’s authorised capital.Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the move aligns with the state’s push to position Maharashtra as a hub for education, industry and skill development, adding that an IIM campus in the Pune region will expand access to world-class education. The project is expected to boost higher education, research, innovation and industry-oriented skill development, and is seen as a major addition to Pimpri-Chinchwad’s academic landscape.
