Nagpur: With nearly seven out of every 10 electors in the district already mapped, Nagpur has completed 69.92% coverage under pre-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, setting the stage for the month-long electoral roll verification drive beginning June 30. Of the district’s 46.38 lakh electors, 32.43 lakh have been mapped so far, while 8.75 lakh entries have been flagged for anomalies and will be verified during upcoming exercise. Election authorities have shifted focus from preparatory mapping to field-level readiness as the pre-SIR mapping practice has concluded. Training programmes for officials are underway, while printing of enumeration forms and other revision material is being carried out ahead of the rollout. Notably, Nagpur continues to report highest number of anomalous elector entries in the state. The pre-SIR exercise identified 8.75 lakh electors with anomalies — accounting for nearly 27% of all mapped voters in district. Deputy district election officer Rachna Indurkar said training of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) was completed by district administration, following which EROs are now conducting sessions for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) between June 20 and June 29. “Preparations for Special Intensive Revision are progressing per schedule. Nagpur has 4,610 BLOs deployed for SIR across 4,610 polling stations, which are currently being trained,” said Indurkar. She said actual SIR exercise will commence on June 30 and continue till July 29, during which BLOs will hold door-to-door visits, distribute enumeration forms and collect them after verification.
