Varanasi: Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai on Friday said Lord Ram is not merely a symbol of faith but the supreme symbol of ‘maryada’ (dignity), ‘dharma’ (righteousness), justice and an ideal life. After offering prayers at Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir on the occasion of Ram Navami, Rai said: “Lord Ram’s life inspires all to walk on the path of truth, devotion to duty, sacrifice, and service to society.”He also participated in the 15-day Shri Hanuman Dhwaja Yatra. This yatra is considered one of the ancient religious traditions of Varanasi, in which a large number of devotees participate with devotion and enthusiasm.Rai also visited the famous Ram Ramapati Bank Mandir at Tripura Bhairavi, where a vast collection of handwritten ‘Ram Naam’ has been preserved.“This sacred land of Kashi has been a heritage of spiritual, religious, and cultural traditions for centuries. The temples, pilgrimages, and religious events here are not only centres of faith but also serve to unite society and provide positive energy. Whether it is the Dhwaja Yatra of Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir or the tradition of writing Ram Naam at Ram Ramapati Bank Mandir — they are symbols of deep faith and spiritual strength of our society,” he added. tnn
