Nagpur: Senior Inspector Mukund Kawade of Lakadganj Police Station has installed 12 CCTV cameras in Ganga Jamuna red-light area on his own initiative to strengthen round-the-clock surveillance, curb trafficking of minors and other crimes .The cameras have been strategically placed at key entry and exit points, narrow lanes and other vulnerable locations. Live feeds are streamed directly to Kawade’s mobile phone and tablet.“Such measures are essential to curb trafficking and criminal activity. The system helps track traffickers and prevent incidents such as assaults, robberies and other offences reported in the area,” said Kawade. He said the initiative was undertaken without waiting for official infrastructure support. Zonal DCP Rahul Madane is also monitoring the system.“The Lakadganj team is now better positioned to act on real-time inputs, leading to more rescues, arrests and preventive action,” he said. The surveillance network also enables Zonal DCP Rahul Madane to monitor the area in real time.
