Nagpur: A 36-year-old man from Bihar suffered severe burns after receiving a powerful electric shock from the 25,000-volt overhead wire while attempting to climb a stationary goods train at platform no. 2 of Nagpur Central Railway Station on Tuesday morning.The incident occurred between 6 and 6.30 am when Shashi Prakash Aniruddha Prakash, a resident of Asarpur village in Nainpur tehsil of Ambedkarnagar district, Bihar, tried to board the goods train. Alerted passengers immediately informed railway authorities. Railway police promptly cut off the electric supply to the line.However, the man jumped to another goods train on the adjacent track where the overhead wire was still live. He came in contact with the high-voltage line and was critically injured. Chaos erupted on the platform as passengers raised an alarm.Railway Police reached the spot, used a ladder to climb the train and rescued the unconscious man. He was rushed to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (Mayo) for emergency treatment.Railway Police Inspector Gaurav Gavande said the victim;s maternal uncle, Suresh Sharma, was contacted. Sharma informed that Shashiprakash had been missing from home for some days and his mental condition was not stable. Medical treatment is underway.
