Coimbatore: The district police have extended its integrated WhatsApp chatbot service, ‘Kovai Digi Cop’, to cover all police stations in Coimbatore city as well.A senior police officer said the service has now been integrated with the city police. It was initially available only within district limits, which meant people facing issues within city limits could not use it. With the support of the city police, the 24×7 service has now been extended to city limits as well. People across Coimbatore, including both city and district areas, can now use the facilities.The service was formally launched on March 11.Citizens can access the service by sending a “Hi” message to 98400 91100. The automated chatbot offers real-time assistance for a wide range of police-related services. The chatbot provides quick access to emergency contacts and dedicated modules for women’s safety. It also shares the real-time location and contact details of nearby police stations, including the names and phone numbers of night patrol officers currently on duty. Users can get guidance on filing online complaints and on the procedures for reporting cybercrimes. It also includes a secure option for sharing information about narcotics, traffic congestion, or other urgent matters without revealing identity. In addition, it provides information on traffic violations, fine payments, and access to free legal assistance. Officials said the chatbot is integrated with official police databases and is monitored continuously by technical experts. Measures have been put in place to ensure data security and protect user privacy.
