Varanasi: A speeding Thar dragged a motorcycle for nearly 100 metres, killing a woman and her five-year-old daughter on the spot and leaving her brother-in-law seriously injured in Varanasi’s Bhullanpur area late Sunday.A woman and her five-year-old daughter were killed while her brother-in-law suffered serious injuries when their motorcycle was knocked off by speeding Thar in Bhullanpur area of Varanasi late Sunday.The Thar owner, Vivek, who hails from Tarva in Azamgarh, was arrested and his vehicle was seized, said DCP (Varuna zone) Pramod Kumar.During preliminary investigation, it emerged that Soni Rajbhar, 25, had come to Modhaila along with her daughter and brother-in-law Manish to attend a ring ceremony on Sunday evening. After the function, all three were returning home on a motorcycle around 11:30 pm.When they were passing through Bhulanpur, a speeding Thar coming from behind and rammed into the motorbike, killing Soni and her daughter on the spot. The Thar dragged the motorbike with Manish for nearly 100 metres. On noticing it, locals raised an alarm after which Vivek stopped the vehicle.Police said that Vivek rushed the injured to a hospital, where Soni and her daughter were declared dead. The condition of Manish is said to be stable.
