Krishnagiri: A shipping worker and his sister died after a container truck collided with their minivan near Guruparapally flyover on the Hosur-Krishnagiri National Highway around 3am on Monday. Seven others were seriously injured in the incident.The deceased have been identified as S Deepak, 28, and his sister V Divya, 30, both from Palakkad in Kerala. Police said the family was heading from Bengaluru to Kerala when the accident took place. Deepak was at the wheel, and Divya was in the front passenger seat. “When the car was near Guruparapally flyover, one of its tyres got punctured and Deepak tried to pull over to the roadside, however; a container lorry which was coming from behind hit the rear of the car,” said a police officer from Guruparapally station. He added that both Divya and Deepak succumbed to head injuries on the spot, while other passengers including Ravindran, 56, Sri Parvathi, 54, Vineeth, 42, Sarojini, 65, Abhindev, 11, Akhildev, 8, and Ramya, 30, survived with injuries. Passerby rescued the injured and sent them to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment, where their condition is said to be stable. Guruparapally police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. Police removed the vehicles involved and cleared traffic. A case has been registered.
