Koderma: A private clinic in Koderma was sealed on Thursday evening after allegations that it held a patient over unpaid medical bills.Puni Kumari of Yogiyatilha, under Jainagar police station, complained to the Deputy Commissioner and Civil Surgeon that she was shifted from a govt health facility to a private clinic after going into labour on Sept 29.Her family alleged the clinic quoted Rs 35,000 for surgery, medicines and treatment. They said that even after paying Rs 32,000, the management refused to discharge her until the remaining amount was paid.The woman and her newborn were released after Deputy Commissioner Utkarsh Gupta intervened. He directed the Civil Surgeon to take action and said action would also be taken against the government hospital staffer who allegedly referred her to the private clinic.Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar said the clinic had no patient records or treatment documents, following which it was sealed. Dr Ashish Kumar denied wrongdoing and claimed proper care was provided.
