Ranchi: Burglars broke into a locked house in Pahari Tola under Sukhdeonagar police station limits on Thursday and decamped with jewellery, cash and other valuables, including items purchased for a daughter’s wedding.Sukhdeonagar police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the locality. The family had been staying in their native village in Bihar’s Gaya district for nearly a month for wedding preparations.Shakila Khan, owner of the house, said her three daughters work outside the city and the family had purchased jewellery, utensils and other bridal essentials for one daughter’s wedding and kept them at home.Taking advantage of the family’s absence, the burglars allegedly broke open the door, ransacked rooms and cupboards, and fled with the valuables. Local residents informed the family about the theft on the phone.After returning to Ranchi, the family found belongings scattered across the house and alerted police. Officer in charge Sunil Kumar Kushwaha said the actual value of the stolen property was being assessed.
