Police said they are investigating whether a dispute between the former and current village heads led to the clash

Dhanbad: Two people were injured after a clash and an alleged bombing incident in Kesalpur under Ramkanali police outpost area on Thursday night. Baghmara SDPO Ajit Kumar Vimal said police were probing the village-head dispute angle and had no confirmed information about bombs or firearms.Police said they are investigating whether a dispute between the former and current village heads led to the clash. The injured were identified as Rohit Modak and Ram Mahto.According to villagers, dozens of people allegedly armed with weapons were assaulting Modak near the Hanuman temple in Kesalpur. Rohit’s friends and other villagers rushed to the spot. As the crowd grew, the attackers allegedly hurled bombs before fleeing.Police reached the spot and arranged treatment for the injured. Residents claimed remnants of bombs were found there. Villagers alleged Rohit was targeted for opposing illegal coal mining and transportation of illegally extracted coal, though the allegation has not been independently established.Angry villagers later gathered at Ramkanali police outpost, demanding strict action.
