Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation’s Rs 1,311 crore budget Wednesday ignored core urban issues such as parking in the central business district, garbage disposal, and city cleanliness, while giving importance to matters that are not essentially civic priorities. Mysuru regional commissioner Nitesh Patil, who is the administrator of MCC, announced various proposals including green property tag, creation of street food hubs, drone survey, a clean city app to address public grievances within 24 hours, formation of decentralised fuel stations, and people-friendly pathways. He also announced the setting up of Akka cafe and coffee kiosks at MCC offices. In the absence of an elected body, MCC officials presented a surplus budget for the second year in a row. However, the budget failed to address the growing parking problem and a plan for management of construction debris and garbage. The civic body also did not mention anything regarding the management of stray dogs, though Supreme Court has passed a series of orders following a rise in incidents of dogbite. A former corporator said despite the state govt having notified formation of greater MCC, covering an area of 341 sq km, it did not find a mention in the budget.
