Hyderabad: Comments and alleged indecent gestures by BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy towards BRS rebel MLA Kadiyam Srihari in the assembly on Sunday landed him in trouble, with the incident being referred to the ethics committee after several MLAs demanded his suspension.Congress MLAs alleged that Kaushik had made gestures as if he were shooting at Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari and reportedly remarked that he would stomp him. They further accused him of showing no respect for Dalit, Adivasi and Girijan leaders, and described him as an “assembly naxal” and a “rowdy”.On behalf of the govt, IT minister D Sridhar Babu proposed referring Kaushik Reddy’s behaviour to the committee on ethics for examination and further action.“We condemn Kaushik’s behaviour and body language towards senior leader Kadiyam Srihari,” he said before proposing the motion.Following this, the speaker called for votes and referred the matter to the committee on ethics.Earlier in the day, several other MLAs condemned the behaviour of first-time MLA Kaushik Reddy and demanded his suspension from the assembly.“The way he was gesturing at Kadiyam, it looks like he is an assembly naxal, not an MLA. Kaushik should be immediately suspended for the rest of the term. He should realise that all of us here, including SC MLAs like me, are well educated and deserve respect. Action should be initiated against him,” Achampet MLA Chikkudu Vamshi Krishna said.Commenting on Kaushik’s attitude, another MLA, KR Nagaraju, said, “He looks like a rowdy. A leader like Kadiyam deserves respect. This just shows his arrogance. How can he say he will kill and stomp? BRS MLAs do not like the assembly; they boycott it. All they like are drugs, farmhouses and pubs. In fact, it looks like KCR is not coming to the assembly just because you (Gaddam Prasad Kumar) are the speaker,” he added.Several MLAs also pointed out that it was unfortunate that Dalit, Adivasi and woman leaders do not have respect and safety even in the assembly.
