Prayagraj: Alongside expanding healthcare services, the state government is working to enhance its quality. As a result of the state government’s efforts to improve the state’s healthcare system, government health facilities across the state are making rapid strides in obtaining NQAS (National Quality Assurance Standards) certification. The Prayagraj division has achieved a significant milestone regarding NQAS certification, which evaluates the quality of services in government health facilities. Smaller districts within the division have performed particularly well. The Chief Medical Officer (Kaushambi), Dr Sanjay Kumar said that the district has secured NQAS certificates for 70 out of its 130 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, achieving 53.85% of its target. These certificates were awarded to the division’s government health facilities for providing quality treatment and successfully meeting established healthcare standards. Another notable achievement is that the district succeeded in securing certification for 19 new health centres within a span of just 25 days. During the same period, Prayagraj secured 124 certificates, Pratapgarh 69, and Fatehpur 84—figures that, relative to their respective targets, are lower than Kaushambi’s achievement. These certificates are awarded by the National Health Mission (NHM) following rigorous efforts to evaluate the service quality of government health facilities as they serve as indicators of healthcare quality in the public sector. Certification is based on 14 standards, including ICU, OPD, Operation Theatre, blood bank, pharmacy, radiology, accident and emergency, labour room, maternity ward, paediatric ward, sick newborn unit, post-mortem unit, nutritional rehabilitation centre, general hospital management, and support services.
