Kanpur: Kanpur Nagar witnessed a dry day on Saturday, with no rainfall reported in the city. The sky remained partly cloudy, with bright sunshine appearing at intervals throughout the day. At times, the cloud cover gave an impression that rain was imminent, but the weather changed within minutes as the sun emerged again.The sunshine pushed up the mercury, with the maximum temperature rising to 34.6°C, which was 2.4°C higher than Friday’s 32.2°C. The minimum temperature, however, remained unchanged at 26.6°C.Southeasterly winds blew across the city at around 12.1 kmph, providing some relief from the sultry conditions. However, high humidity continued to trouble residents, particularly those in congested areas. The maximum relative humidity was recorded at 83%.CSA University weather expert S N Sunil Pandey said the moisture content in the atmosphere and the formation of new weather systems were increasing the flow of moisture, resulting in high humidity. He said Kanpur division was likely to witness cloudy skies on Aug 2 and 3.According to the forecast, isolated areas may receive light drizzle to light or moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds, thunderstorms and lightning. Strong surface winds are also likely, while intermittent sunshine may continue, leading to humid conditions.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast partly cloudy skies and light to moderate rain or thundershowers in all six districts of Kanpur division during the next 24 hours..The maximum temperature is likely to remain between 33°C and 34°C, while the minimum temperature may hover around 27°C. Southeasterly winds are expected to blow at 10 to 15 kmph.
