Jhansi: In a boost to industrial development in Bundelkhand, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved a comprehensive infrastructure development package worth Rs 497 crore for the activation area of the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA) under the Atal Industrial Infrastructure Mission (AIIM) for the financial year 2026–27.The approval is viewed as a significant step toward positioning Bundelkhand as an emerging industrial, manufacturing, and investment hub in northern India. The sanctioned projects aim to create world-class industrial infrastructure and establish a plug-and-play-ready ecosystem that will enable investors to set up manufacturing units with minimal lead time.According to the approved plan, the activation area will be equipped with a 30 MLD modern drinking water supply system, a 132 kV power substation along with associated transmission infrastructure, and a 33/11 kV substation to ensure reliable power availability for industrial operations. The package also includes an integrated road network featuring storm-water drainage, sewerage systems, utility ducts, footpaths, cycle tracks, and green avenue plantations. In addition, a dedicated water distribution network with overhead tanks, a grand entrance gateway, and a modern administrative and business centre will be developed as part of the infrastructure rollout.Officials said the projects would significantly reduce the time required for industries to establish operations in the region by providing all essential civic and industrial utilities within the activation area. The integrated infrastructure is expected to improve operational efficiency and offer investors a secure, well-planned, and technologically equipped industrial environment.BIDA officials described the government’s approval as a landmark milestone in Bundelkhand’s industrial transformation. They said the investment would create a strong foundation for attracting manufacturing enterprises, generating employment, and accelerating inclusive economic growth across the region.BIDA CEO Sanjay Khatri said, “All projects will be implemented in a phased and time-bound manner in accordance with state government guidelines and prescribed procedures. Once completed, the BIDA Activation Area is expected to emerge as one of the state’s key investment destinations, offering modern, organised, and investor-friendly industrial infrastructure.”*(Pics are graphical impressions provided by BIDA)*
