Kanpur: Given a clean cit by cops and released from jail after 21 days, Shalu Minocha (30) alleged that her husband, Subrat, had falsely implicated her and said she endured severe mental and physical suffering during her incarceration.“I had been saying from the beginning that I did nothing. The truth is now before everyone,” she told the media shortly after her release. “I do not know why Subrat made allegations against me. I was in jail for 21 days and endured a great deal of suffering.”Shalu said she missed her son the most during her imprisonment. “I would now like to go straight to him,” she said.According to Shalu, there had only been minor disagreements between her and Subrat, the kind that occur in most households. She also said that when they came face to face during remand proceedings, Subrat denied that she was involved and repeatedly told her, “I am sure that you did not do it.”Recalling the day of the incident, Shalu said she was shocked when she opened the room door and saw her father-in-law Vineet Minocha lying in a pool of blood.Shalu further claimed that former employee Vishal had long resented her father-in-law because he often insulted him whenever he visited the shop. She alleged that shortly before the incident, Vineet had again scolded Vishal and driven him away. According to her, she had conveyed this to Subrat, but he ignored it.She also said that although her father-in-law would reprimand Subrat for returning home drunk, she had never seen any behaviour from Subrat that suggested matters would escalate to the extent of committing, or having someone commit, a murder.Vineet (63), who lived in Indira Nagar, was stabbed 26 times on Sept 5. Shalu said she discovered his bloodied body after reaching home.Police initially investigated Shalu, Subrat and former domestic help Vishal Gautam after a money dispute and call records emerged during the probe.Police arrested Subrat on Sept 24 on charges of murdering his father. According to Subrat, he feared that a woman might claim she was expecting Vineet’s child. He allegedly engaged Vishal and the latter’s associate, Rajkishore, to kill Minocha.
