Kanpur: National Cadet Corps’ 2 UP CTR NCC unit at IIT Kanpur hosted Brigadier P. K. Shastri, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Kanpur, for its Annual Technical and Administrative Inspection on Sept 25, 2026, the institute said on Monday (September 28).The inspection covered the unit’s training activities, cadet enrolment, institutional programmes, examinations, camps, administrative preparedness, and social service initiatives.Colonel Varun Singhal, Commanding Officer, 2 UP CTR NCC, IIT Kanpur, briefed the Group Commander on the functioning of the unit and its activities. A key focus of the inspection was the training standards and drill proficiency of NCC cadets.Brigadier PK Shastri reviewed the training arrangements and interacted with the NCC instructors, cadets and staff members to understand the unit’s training activities and the experiences of the cadets. He emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards of discipline, turnout, drill and overall conduct.The inspection also covered the unit’s administrative functioning, including official records, training documentation, cadet-related data, stores and inventory, correspondence, examination-related documentation and other administrative processes. The unit also presented its social service and community development initiatives, through which NCC cadets participate in activities focused on creating awareness, supporting community initiatives and promoting social responsibility.Brigadier PK Shastri, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Kanpur, appreciated the work undertaken by the Commanding Officer, NCC Instructors, staff and cadets. He encouraged the unit to sustain its focus on high standards of training and administration and continue providing cadets with opportunities for their overall development.
