The state championship began on August 1.Kanpur dominated proceedings from the start and took the lead in the 19th minute. Anand sent the ball from around 30 yards following a free kick and it struck the crossbar before returning into play. Abdul, positioned inside the box, reacted quickly and headed the rebound into the net.A couple of minutes later, Ujjwal missed an easy opportunity to extend Kanpur’s lead which went into the half-time break with a 1-0 advantage.Kanpur returned after the interval with greater aggression and mounted repeated attacks on the Chitrakoot defence.
