Times News NetworkKanpur: Kanpur made a winning start to their campaign in the Junior State Football championship, defeating Chitrakoot 3-0 in their opening match in Mau on Saturday. The state championship began on August 1.Kanpur dominated proceedings from the start and took the lead in the 19th minute. Anand sent the ball from around 30 yards following a free kick and it struck the crossbar before returning into play. Abdul, positioned inside the box, reacted quickly and headed the rebound into the net.A couple of minutes later, Ujjwal missed an easy opportunity to extend Kanpur’s lead which went into the half-time break with a 1-0 advantage.Kanpur returned after the interval with greater aggression and mounted repeated attacks on the Chitrakoot defence. Their pressure paid off in the 55th minute when Sahil collected a loose ball and beat the Chitrakoot goalkeeper with a powerful right-footer to make it 2-0.Anand completed Kanpur’s tally in the dying moments of the match, converting a free kick to seal a convincing 3-0 victory.Defenders Gagan and Ananya, along with Anand and Utsav, put up an impressive performance in their half and played a key role in Kanpur’s comfortable win.…………….Triathlon – Pranay Dwivedi of the city will represent State team in National Triathlon championship slated to be held at Pune on August 15 and 16,2026.The best performers of the national championship will be selected in National squad for world Triathlon championship .Triathlon is considered one of the toughest endurance-based competitions in the world.And the winner is known as Ironman.In this event, participants are required to complete a continuous 1,900-meter swim, a 90-kilometer cycle ride, and a 21-kilometer run.Prior to this, 52-year-old Pranay Dwivedi clinched two silver medals competing against master athletes from 90 countries at the World Masters Games held in Abu Dhabi from February 6 to 14.………………..
