T’puram: As part of intensified action against anti-social elements, Poojappura police on Saturday took a history-sheeter into custody for violating restrictions imposed under Kaapa.The accused, Suresh (48), alias Pallan Suresh, of Thrikannapuram, had been externed from Thiruvananthapuram city police limits for one year by city police commissioner. The order was issued citing his repeated involvement in criminal cases and the threat posed to public order.Despite the ban being in force, he allegedly entered the city limits. Acting on a tip-off about his presence, police traced and took him into custody.Officials said strict surveillance of known offenders has been stepped up, particularly in view of the ongoing election period, to ensure law and order.
