Prayagraj: To mark Jal Arpan Diwas and World Water Day, an event was organised on Sunday at Babhankuiya village, in Sahson under the aegis of the Jal Jeevan Mission. Phulpur MP Praveen Patel administered a ‘Water Pledge’ to the attendees.Patel also dedicated the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme to the village by performing a traditional ‘Jal Arpan’ (water offering) ritual and ceremonially handing it over to the village head. Tree plantation activities were also undertaken by the dignitaries present at the event.The scheme was successfully completed by the L&T team within a remarkably short span of just eight months. The completion of this project ensures an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water to hundreds of families in Babhankuiya village, thereby liberating the villagers from the arduous task of fetching water from distant locations.Patel, meanwhile, said that the Jal Jeevan Mission is an ambitious initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at delivering clean tap water to every household. MLA (Phulpur) Deepak Singh Patel remarked that this scheme would prove to be a milestone for the region, bringing direct benefits to the villagers.
