Nagpur: The MIDC Industries Association (MIA) on Monday convened an emergency meeting at Udhyog Bhavan to review the implementation of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) infrastructure in Hingna MIDC, following state directives on city gas distribution (CGD) networks. The move comes amid an ongoing shortage of LPG for industrial use, which has disrupted production across several MIDC units. The meeting was chaired by MIA president P Mohan in the presence of office-bearers Ganesh Jaiswal and Arun Lanjewar, along with MIDC officials and representatives of Haryana City Gas Pvt Ltd (HCG).P Mohan told TOI that HCG sought land within MIDC to set up a decompression unit, as the gas supplied through pipelines is at high pressure and requires regulation before distribution to industries. “MIDC identified a few potential locations for the facility, and formalities are underway, with a detailed proposal from HCG awaited. Meanwhile, pipeline-laying work has already commenced in parts of Hingna MIDC,” he said.Mohan added that industries seeking PNG connections will be required to pay a deposit to initiate the process. “As an interim arrangement, HCG has agreed to supply gas through cascades or cylinders to units facing urgent requirements. MIA is acting as a mediator between MIDC and HCG to facilitate coordination and ensure timely implementation,” he said.MIA flagged the growing difficulties faced by industries reliant on LPG, citing global supply disruptions. It urged HCG to expedite pipeline-laying work in Hingna and ensure timely rollout of PNG infrastructure. The association urged MIDC to allocate land for a District Regulatory Facility (DRF), to which officials responded positively, asking HCG to submit a formal proposal.HCG informed that pipeline development has already begun in key industrial zones, including Hingna, where LPG demand is estimated at 50-75 metric tonnes. A phased and time-bound roadmap for transition to PNG is expected to be finalised soon.
