Mangaluru: Beneficiaries of the Anna Bhagya scheme will soon receive Indira Food Kits containing tur dal, sugar, salt, and edible oil. HM Revanna, chairman of the Karnataka State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority, said that these kits will be supplied through the PDS via district-level tenders.Revanna told reporters here on Tuesday, that the initiative will help prevent pilferage and diversion of free rice to the black market. Further, the move will ensure nutritious food reaches beneficiaries.The govt originally planned a single state-level tender for the kits, but ultimately shifted to a district-level procurement process, he said.Revanna clarified that the Rs 2,000 monthly payments for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme were delayed in Feb and March because the treasury had not yet released the funds. While categorically denying the opposition’s allegations of financial mismanagement, he assured that the govt will disburse the pending amounts to beneficiaries soon.He announced that the govt will shortly initiate the re-verification of Gruha Lakshmi beneficiaries. To facilitate this process, six-member committees will be established at the gram panchayat level and ward level over the next 10 days. Revanna said out of Rs 117 crore credited to the bank accounts of deceased beneficiaries under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme across the state, Rs 30 crore have already been recovered. In Dakshina Kannada, out of Rs 3.3 crore credited to the accounts of deceased beneficiaries, Rs 1.6 crore had been recovered, he said.Revanna was in Mangaluru to participate at a taluk-level guarantee scheme beneficiaries meet held at the Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall.
