Ranchi: The Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall in four districts besides yellow alerts for heavy rain in 10 districts till Tuesday and yellow alert for heavy rain in 14 districts from Tuesday to Wednesday. The IMD also issued a yellow alert for lightning, thunderstorms, and winds of 30-40kmph across the state till Saturday. The predicted shower may help narrow Jharkhand’s monsoon rainfall deficit, which stood at 29% till Monday.The orange alert has been issued for East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, and Simdega, while the yellow alert has been issued for Koderma, Giridih, Hazaribag, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Lohardaga, Ranchi, Gumla, and Khunti till Tuesday.Another yellow alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Hazaribag, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Ranchi, Ramgarh, Khunti, Simdega, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Saraikela-Kharsawan from Tuesday to Wednesday.Sunday’s depression intensified into a deep depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of West Bengal and north Odisha coasts at 5.30am on Monday. A trough also runs from the cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan and neighbourhood to the cyclonic circulation associated with the deep depression, across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, at 3.1km above mean sea level, the IMD bulletin stated.“Under the influence of the systems, light to moderate rainfall is expected at many places with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on July 27th and 28th and isolated heavy rainfall on July 28th and 29th,” Baburaj PP, scientist and director of the city-based Met office, said.Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms occurred at a few places on Monday. The highest rainfall, 61.4mm, was recorded at Jhinkpani in West Singhbhum. Ranchi recorded 30.8°C, Jamshedpur 33.2°C, Bokaro 34.2°C, Daltonganj 34.8°C, the highest maximum temperature in the state.
