Dhanbad: IIT(ISM), Dhanbad, director Sukumar Mishra on Sunday urged undergraduate and postgraduate freshers to become innovators and job creators rather than remain job seekers.Addressing two orientation sessions at Penman Auditorium, Mishra asked students to build on the institute’s century-old legacy and prepare for future challenges through research, innovation and interdisciplinary learning. He said IIT(ISM)’s focus on critical minerals, quantum technology, semiconductors, renewable energy and sustainable mining would contribute to India’s technological progress.Stressing critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving, he encouraged students to address real-world challenges, pursue entrepreneurship and excel in academics, leadership and co-curricular activities.Dean (academic) Amit Rai Dixit explained the curriculum, evaluation system and interdisciplinary options. Alok Kumar Das outlined startup support, industry partnerships and the innovation ecosystem, while Sanjoy Kumar Mandal briefed students on welfare, counselling, hostels and extracurricular activities. Rajni Singh conducted the proceedings.
