Prayagraj: The Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad (IIIT-A) will celebrate its 28th Foundation Day on Aug 12, marking nearly three decades of academic excellence, technological innovation, research and contributions to the field of information technology.The celebrations will be held at the institute’s main auditorium and will bring together its leadership, faculty, staff, students, alumni and distinguished guests. The programme will begin with a tree plantation ceremony, highlighting the institute’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.N Subramanian, director, Society for Electronic Transactions and Security (SETS), Chennai, will be the guest of honour and deliver an address focusing on secure digital systems, electronics, cybersecurity and emerging technologies. Another guest of honour, Sanjay M Tarde, IPS, director general (retired), Uttar Pradesh Police, will speak on leadership, public service, technology and security challenges in the digital age.A special session titled “Retrospection and Prospects” will be conducted by Prof S Verma along with the director, IIIT-A. The session will review the institute’s journey, major academic and research achievements, technological innovations and institutional development, besides discussing future opportunities and challenges in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital transformation and interdisciplinary research.Dean (Student Affairs) KP Singh said the programme will also feature a memento and prize distribution ceremony to recognise achievements and contributions in academics, innovation, extracurricular activities and institutional initiatives.The celebrations will conclude with a cultural programme from 6 pm to 9 pm, during which students will showcase their talent through various performances.
