Thiruvananthapuram: With only a couple of days remaining for Attukal Pongala, state human rights commission (SHRC) chairperson Justice Alexander Thomas urged assistant executive engineer of Kuriathy to urgently address the issue of restoring drinking water supply in Manacaud, which sees an influx of thousands of people.The commission also directed Kerala Water Authority’s assistant executive engineer to submit a report by March 15. The complaint submitted by Manacaud Residents Association stated that the drinking water supply in the area has been severely disrupted for a long time. The supply was unjustly interrupted for three months, often stopping without prior notice, and water was available only occasionally at night, the residents’ association members complained.
