T’puram: Episcopal Synod of Malankara Syrian Catholic Church demanded the immediate publication of Justice J B Koshy Commission report. The commission was appointed to study the issues faced by Christians.The synod, which concluded at Pattom Catholicate Centre on Friday, urged govt to swiftly address the vulnerable situation of the Christian community in the state.
The synod also emphasised the need to protect the Constitution and Christian faith in the country. It called for govt to promptly implement decisions made to resolve the crisis in teacher appointments and to ensure justice for teachers, a press release said. In preparation for the centenary celebration of 2030 Malankara reunification movement, it was decided to observe the period from Sept 20, 2026 to Sept 19, 2027, as a year of charity and justice, with the formulation of related programmes. It also hosted a reception for church members who were elected as people’s representatives in various areas during the recent local body elections. It was presided over by Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis Catholicos.
