Guwahati: Farmers and landowners along a power transmission corridor can now seek answers and lodge grievances through Assam’s first dedicated project helpline.Chirang district commissioner Gokul Chandra Brahma launched the service on Monday for people affected by the North Eastern Region Expansion Scheme (NERES XXV) power transmission project.Developed by power transmission infrastructure company Resonia Ltd, the multilingual helpline will serve villages in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Bajali districts in Assamese, Bodo and Hindi. It will operate until the completion of the NERES XXV (A) project.Residents can call 1800-572-7701 from 9.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, to seek information, raise concerns or lodge grievances related to transmission line construction and other project activities. Queries will be answered within 48 hours.“Most of the issues can be amicably resolved with dialogue and the pace of development will remain at speed, bringing prosperity to our district as well as our state,” Brahma said.Resonia said the helpline would strengthen communication between project teams and communities along the transmission corridor, reduce misunderstandings and address landowners’ concerns. The project seeks to strengthen Assam and the northeast’s power transmission network, improve grid reliability and meet growing electricity demand.
