The direction follows complaints alleging large-scale violence during the bank election held on Nov 16, 2024. Although the high court had directed that the Medical College police provide security for the election, the complaints alleged that the officers concerned failed to prevent the violence. The complaints, submitted by Congress functionaries including Kozhikode MP M K Raghavan and Kozhikode DCC president K Praveenkumar, also alleged that more than 5,000 fake identity cards were used by CPM workers to manipulate the election process.
