Patiala: Punjab health and family welfare and medical education and research minister Dr Balbir Singh administered the oath of office to 23 members of the zila parishad and 184 members of 10 block Samitis of Patiala district.Addressing the gathering in Punjabi University, the minister congratulated the newly elected members and urged them to go among the people, ensure govt schemes reached the grassroots level, and come forward to resolve public issues. He said all members, regardless of political affiliation, must give priority to the development of villages.He said that due to the power granted under the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, Zilha Parishad and Block Samiti members received 30% of development funds. Any member who brought a proposal for the development of their village would receive full support from the govt led by chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.The minister said that taking the health revolution forward, the Punjab Govt decided to send doctors and medicines to 2,500 additional villages, and the selection of these villages was already completed. He said the govt already provided cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh to 65 lakh families under the Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana.Dr Balbir Singh said chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann decided to provide sugar, turmeric, oil, and pulses along with wheat to 40 lakh needy families. He said cooperative sugar mills in the state would be operated to produce sugar within Punjab, and the production of pulses and oilseeds would also be increased in the state.MLA Chetan Singh Jauramajra, MLA Gurdev Singh Dev Mann, MLA Gurlal Ghanour, Halka Sanaur In-charge Ranjodh Singh Hadana and ADC Rural Development Damanjit Singh Mann were present at the oath ceremony and urged members to prioritise spreading awareness of the govt’s achievements among the people.MSID:: 128847642 413 |
