Jaipur: The health dept will conduct a statewide study to identify areas where ambulance services are not reaching patients quickly. Based on the findings, the dept plans to roll out 250 new ambulances over the next 12 months to strengthen patient transportation across the state and reduce emergency response times. A senior health dept official said the state govt is preparing to expand and reinforce the existing 108 ambulance network. The state currently operates a fleet of more than 1,100 ambulances under the 108 ambulance service, and the proposed addition is aimed at improving coverage in underserved pockets. According to the official, the study will map gaps in availability and response time, helping the dept decide where the new ambulances should be stationed. Deployment will be need-based, with priority given to locations where delays are frequent and where distance or terrain affects timely access to emergency care. The official said the objective is to ensure quicker reach to patients, particularly in time-sensitive medical emergencies. The department will also seek suggestions from district administrations to identify local problem areas. Inputs are expected to focus on remote, rural, and hard-to-reach regions where ambulance access is limited and travel times are longer. The findings will guide allocation so that additional ambulances are positioned to improve last-mile connectivity and strengthen emergency medical response across the state.
