Jaipur: Travel time between Delhi and Jaipur on the old Jaipur–Delhi highway via Kotputli is set to fall sharply from April, after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said it will commission six under-construction bridges and flyovers by March 31.Officials said the upgrades should allow motorists to complete the trip in about 4.5 to 5 hours, bringing it close to travel times on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway route via the newly constructed Bandikui linkway.Speaking to TOI, NHAI project director (Jaipur) Ajay Arya stated that to facilitate smooth traffic flow and to eleminate black spots on the Gurgaon-Kotputli-Jaipur section of the NH 48, the authority had decided to construct nine underpasses and flyovers. Flyovers have completed at 3 locations – Kotputli, Behror and Dahmi and a bridge has been opened for traffic at Khatolai. “The work at the remaining locations is scheduled to be completed by March 31. It includes two flyovers at Bawal and Shahpura and three bridges at Sotanala, Neelka and Neejhar. Once all the nine structures are commissioned travel time between Delhi and Jaipur through NH 48 (Delhi Road) will get reduced to 4.5 to 5 hours,” Arya stated. At present it take around 3.5 to 4 hours reach the DND Flyover through Delhi Mumbai Expressway via the Bandikui linkway. However, from this point it takes almost an hour to reach the Rao Tularam Marg intersection near the Delhi Cantonment area during the peak traffic hours. The NH 48 (Delhi Road via Kotputli) also aligns at the same intersection.
