Ranchi: Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday pulled up the state police for not being able to meet up to high standards of investigation. The court, while hearing a criminal appeal, observed that the police in the state has failed to repose faith in the people.The court of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad also observed that recent developments in terms of cases in the High Court have revealed serious inaction on the part of the police. The court mentioned the news of an infant who went missing from Kokar in Ranchi, the case of a missing girl from Bokaro whose skeleton was allegedly recovered after seven months and another Bokaro girl who went missing in 2020.“The matter was brought before the high court and on monitoring done by the High Court, it was later revealed that the girl was murdered,” the bench observed.The court observed that the police in the state seems to have lost its direction for proper investigation of cases. “For every investigation, the High Court has to intervene and give directions to the police,” the bench observed.Justice Prasad was hearing a criminal appeal filed by Sonu Yadav, who was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment for assaulting and firing at a man by the Sahibganj Sessions Court, seeking suspension of his sentence. While Sonu was arrested, three others involved the crime have been absconding.Three other convicts Sunil Yadav, Manish Yadav and Rajnish Yadav, who had participated in the crime with Sonu Yadav are absconding. They had killed a witness who had deposed against them in the trial. Only Sunil Yadav could be arrested by the police while Manish and Rajnish Yadav had fled.The court questioned the Sahibganj SP on the inaction of the police in not being able to apprehend the convicts who killed the witness. The court questioned the role of the police and observed that for every instance, the court has to monitor the actions of the police.The judge while rejecting the bail application filed by Sonu Yadav directed the Sahebgunj SP to file a status report in the matter.
