Gumla: The district administration on Monday felicitated students, teachers and officials after the district emerged as Jharkhand’s top performer in the 2026 Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) board examinations.Gumla topped the state in Class X results and secured first place in arts, second in science and third in commerce in the Class XII exams. In Class X, 26 students featured in the state top-10 merit bracket, while 38 students made it to the top-10 across arts, science and commerce streams in Class XII. Besides, 246 students who scored over 90% marks were also honoured.At the felicitation programme presided over by deputy commissioner Dileshwar Mahto, 35 core-team teachers involved in preparing model question sets, 35 other teachers, 100 headmasters whose schools achieved 100% pass results, 14 block programme officers (BPOs) who monitored the Board Exam Vijay Abhiyan, and 23 education department staff were awarded citations.Deputy superintendent of education Noor Alam Khan said, “Action was also taken against teachers showing laxity, creating a disciplined work culture. Daily interactions were held with students through district and block-level monitoring cells.”District education officer Kavita Khalkho said regular mock tests, remedial classes, online monitoring and daily practice sessions led to the success. DC said, “The challenge now is to sustain this excellence.”
