Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao has alleged a major land grab in Nadergul involving 373 acres of govt land valued at nearly Rs 7,000 crore. Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan, the BRS leader accused ruling Congress leaders and politically linked firms of attempting to illegally take control of the land.According to Harish, the land has long been recognised as govt property. He cited past official and political acknowledgements, including declarations made during the undivided Andhra Pradesh period and the subsequent transfer of the land to APIIC. He also referred to legal findings, stating that the RDO had declared the land to be govt-owned in 2005, and that later court rulings, including a 2022 high court order, upheld the view that the related sale transactions were invalid. He added that the matter is currently pending before the Supreme Court, but no stay has been granted, meaning the HC judgment remains in force.Harish alleged that nearly 600 poor farmers, including women cultivators who have worked the land parcel for decades, are being denied access through intimidation, fencing, destruction of borewells, and police-backed pressure. He claimed token compensation offers were being made to force them out.He further alleged environmental violations, stating that parts of the land fall within the FTL and buffer zone of Lachamma Kunta, and that feeder channels to connected water bodies are being damaged. He questioned why HYDRAA and district authorities had not acted despite complaints from farmers. He demanded immediate intervention by chief minister Revanth Reddy, demolition of illegal structures, restoration of farmers’ access, and the arrests of those responsible. He also warned that BRS leaders would visit the site if action is not taken.
