Hyderabad: As part of efforts to strengthen fire safety preparedness, a series of mock evacuation and firefighting drills were conducted at Sindhu Hospital in Madhapur as part of the Praja Palana Vijayotsavalu initiative.The drills took place between 10 am and noon, overseen by officials from the state fire department. Hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, administrative personnel, housekeeping teams and security staff, took part in the drills.This initiative is part of a statewide push to enhance fire safety compliance, with hospitals across Telangana currently undergoing audits as part of the govt’s 99-day action plan, which was launched on March 6. The plan focuses on strengthening safety measures in high-risk buildings, including healthcare facilities. Around 230 hospitals have already received notices for failing to install or maintain fire safety measures.According to officials, the drills aimed to improve preparedness for fire-related emergencies, ensuring the swift evacuation of patients and staff and enhancing coordination among different teams in crisis situations. Participants were also made aware of standard fire safety protocols and the proper use of emergency equipment.
