Baby found crying near locked public toilet at bus stand in Gugaon.

GURGAON: Around 1.5-month-old baby was abandoned near a locked public toilet at the Gurgaon bus stand on Monday afternoon and was rescued after the infant’s continuous cries alerted passersby.The baby was found lying outside the gate of a public toilet behind an ATM booth inside the bus stand premises. The toilet has remained closed for the past several days. Around noon, people nearby rushed to the spot after hearing the infant crying continuously and found the child alone in the scorching heat.The infant, exhausted from prolonged crying and hunger, was taken to the bus stand inquiry centre. Conductor Nitin, who was present there, called Dial 112 to alert the police. An Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) team reached the spot and informed Sector-14 police station.Police took the baby to the Civil Hospital in Sector-10, where doctors examined the child and admitted the infant to the child health centre. The baby’s condition is stated to be stable.Investigators have launched efforts to identify the woman or anyone else responsible for abandoning the child. CCTV footage from cameras installed inside the bus stand premises and on nearby roads is being examined.“Efforts are being made to identify the woman or others who left the child. Soon, the person who left the child at the bus stand will be identified and further action will be taken,” said a police officer, Sector-14 police station.Before the police arrived, a transgender person who sought alms from passengers at the bus stand cared for the infant, bought milk and a feeding bottle from a nearby shop, and fed the child. A woman police personnel later took the baby to the Civil Hospital for treatment.
