GURGAON: The district administration on Tuesday clamped Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) within a 300-meter radius of the BJP’s district headquarters, ‘Gurukamal’, in Sector 31 to thwart a massive protest planned by the Congress party over the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft case. The prohibitory orders, issued by Gurgaon deputy commission Uttam Singh, effectively ban the assembly of five or more unauthorized persons around the ruling party’s office. The crackdown comes in response to the District Congress Committee (Rural) mobilizing workers and devotees for a mega demonstration involving the recitation of the Sri Sundarkand Path directly outside the BJP office. “The restrictive measures have been put in place with immediate effect to maintain law and order, prevent any breach of public peace, and ensure the unhindered flow of traffic in the area,” DC Uttam Singh stated in the official executive order. The restrictions will remain in force until further notice, though police personnel, paramilitary forces, and government officials on active duty have been exempted. Under the statutory terms of Section 163, the public is strictly prohibited from carrying firearms, swords, lathis, spears, axes, knives, or any objects that can potentially be weaponized. The administration has also flagged strict action against activities aimed at blockading roads, arterial public pathways, or disrupting civic infrastructure. The political temperature in the city soared after Congress Rural District President Vardhan Yadav announced the unique stir, targeting the BJP over alleged political patronage given to individuals accused of financial irregularities at the newly built temple in Ayodhya. “This is not just a financial crime; it is a direct assault on the sentiments of 100 crore Hindus globally,” Yadav said, drawing sharp historical parallels to scale up the political offensive. “We are staging a Sundarkand Path to pray for legal justice against the thieves and to grant wisdom to the ruling BJP leaders who are allegedly shielding them.” Taking no chances with potential clashes between workers of both major parties, Gurugram police have heavily fortified Sector 31 with multiple layers of barricading. Senior police officials confirmed that any violation of the prohibitory orders will invite immediate criminal prosecution under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, alongside other relevant legal provisions.
