GURGAON: Pubs, bars and restaurants found operating beyond the closing time authorised by the Excise Department will face prompt action, with Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj directing senior police officers to conduct random checks and ensure strict compliance.The police commissioner issued directions to all DCPs, ACPs and SHOs through video conferencing and written orders, making it clear that establishments cannot continue operations beyond their permitted timings.Under the new directions, all pubs, bars and restaurants will have to prominently display their authorised operating timings at the entrance. Operators will be responsible for ensuring that business stops by the prescribed closing time.DCPs, ACPs and SHOs have been directed to personally conduct random visits and checks at establishments in their respective jurisdictions to verify compliance. The concerned DCPs and ACPs will be responsible for ensuring that the directions are implemented on the ground.Police said violations would be dealt with promptly. The police commissioner has also warned that any laxity by police officers in enforcing the directions would invite legal and departmental action as per rules.“Strict compliance with the authorised operating timings prescribed by the Excise Department for pubs, bars and restaurants shall be ensured. No establishment shall be allowed to operate beyond the prescribed time,” the commissioner said.Gurgaon Police has also appealed to pub, bar and restaurant operators to prominently display their authorised timings and comply with the prescribed closing hours.
