GURGAON: A contractor has alleged that more than 30 men arrived at his work site in a convoy of around 20 vehicles, threatened to kill him, and demanded protection money in the name of jailed gangster Kaushal Chaudhary to allow him to continue his work. Police have launched an investigation after the victim lodged a complaint at Rajendra Park police station. The contractor has also sought security for himself and his family. According to the complaint, the men, led by Davinder alias Sukku, Dinesh Dahiya, and others, reached the site on Wednesday afternoon and told him he would have to pay them to continue supplying soil and water for projects in Sectors 106 and 108. The contractor alleged that the accused also held his supervisor, Ranjan, at the site, threatened to kill him if he appeared before them, demanded a share of the contract, and openly displayed firearms before leaving. CCTV footage that surfaced later shows multiple SUVs and other vehicles stopping in Dhanwapur. The incident comes amid a spate of extortion threats in Gurgaon. Last week, four alleged members of the Deepak Nandal gang were killed in an encounter with the Gurgaon Police crime branch after they allegedly opened fire on a police team. The suspects were accused of firing around 40 rounds at the house of a businessman in Sushant Lok Phase I as part of an extortion bid. Police said more than 60 bullets were fired during the subsequent encounter.
