Gandhinagar: The state govt will induct 500 new Jan Rakshak vehicles into the 112 emergency response network, doubling the fleet strength to 1,000 vehicles operating round the clock across Gujarat.Minister of state for home Harsh Sanghavi will flag off the new fleet from the state secretariat on Tuesday. According to an official statement, the expansion is aimed at improving emergency response coverage amid Gujarat’s growing population, rapid urbanisation and vast geographical spread.The statement said the 112 Jan Rakshak project has delivered more than 11 lakh integrated emergency services and responded to over 6.7 lakh police emergencies within 11 months of its launch.The Dial 112 platform brings multiple emergency services under a single system, including police, ambulance, fire, women’s helpline, child helpline, disaster response, and traffic-related emergency services. The expanded fleet is expected to strengthen response capabilities and improve accessibility to emergency assistance across the state.
