Ahmedabad: More than 600 seats remain vacant in govt and grant-in-aid engineering colleges across Gujarat even after the completion of the degree engineering admission process. To fill these seats, the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) has announced an offline admission round. As many as 3,872 candidates have submitted online consent and have been included in the merit list for the exercise.The committee had earlier concluded five rounds of degree engineering admissions and declared the process closed. However, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) subsequently extended the admission deadline until Sep 14, enabling ACPC to conduct an additional offline round.Candidates who opted for the offline round have been asked to report to the designated centre according to their merit rank. The admission process will be conducted in batches from 9am to 4.30pm on Tuesday. Seats will be allotted strictly on the basis of merit, and the committee expects to complete the process the same day.Details of vacant seats, including the colleges and branches where they are available, have already been uploaded to the committee’s official website. Candidates have been advised to review their merit rank and available options before participating in the allotment process.Officials said the number of vacant seats could change as candidates securing admission through the offline round may vacate seats already allotted to them in other institutions. This could create additional opportunities for applicants depending on subsequent seat movement.The admission committee will later decide whether another offline round is required, based on the number of seats that remain vacant and the extended admission schedule.
