Gandhinagar: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of the new building and hostel of Indian Institute of Teacher Education (IITE) in Gandhinagar at a cost of Rs 127 crore. The CM also felicitated teachers of BN High School, Vadnagar, who taught Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Speaking at the event, education minister Pradyuman Vaja said that Gujarat has been a national leader in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Vaja said that in line with the emphasis on education, research, innovation, and skill-based learning, IITE is being developed into a multidisciplinary university. He added that seven new university schools have been created to promote holistic education and research through the integration of multiple fields of knowledge.Vaja said IITE was established as a university in 2010, when PM Modi was Gujarat CM, with the aim of creating an institution for teacher education. He added that funds have been allocated to set up a new academic and faculty building, seminar halls, library, sports infrastructure and a hostel that will house 600 students.
