Ahmedabad: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel announced the naming of two important facilities of Gujarat University (GU) at an event held at the Atal-Kalam Centre of the university. The university’s convention hall was named “Vidyagauri Nilkanth Sabhapuram” in memory of social reformer and educationist Vidyagauri Nilkanth, who was the first female graduate of Gujarat. The convention centre previously did not have an official name. In addition, the newly developed research park of the university was named “Dhruv Kamal”. During the event, Patel also inaugurated the fifth edition of the ‘herSTART’ programme run by GUSEC. He felicitated women entrepreneurs and released a coffee table book highlighting the journeys of 50 women-led startups. Vice-chancellor Dr Neerja Gupta also shared details about various initiatives and projects undertaken by the university to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
