Ahmedabad: A 72-year-old woman from Ghodasar is believed to have killed herself by setting herself ablaze on Tuesday. A video of the incident, captured on CCTV cameras, also went viral on social media.Vatva police said that according to preliminary investigation, she had been living along for a long time and struggled with health issues. Officials said the emotional toll of her illness, combined with loneliness, may have pushed her towards this extreme step. Her daughter reportedly lived separately, and Patel was staying by herself in the Ghodasar area of the city.Cops said that when local residents learned of the incident, they informed her family members. The victim’s family immediately reached the spot and called police. By the time Vatva police team reached the spot, the woman had reportedly succumbed to her burns. No suicide note has been found. Her family members told police that she had been battling a prolonged illness. An accidental death case has been registered.
