Ahmedabad: Two men were killed after being run over by trains on the same stretch of the railway tracks in the Naranpura area of Ahmedabad within 24 hours, police said on Wednesday. While one of the deceased was a 50-year-old from the city, the identity of the second victim is yet to be established.According to officials from Vadaj police station, both incidents occurred on the railway tracks near the Akhbarnagar underpass in Naranpura.Police said the first incident is believed to have occurred late on Monday night, when an unidentified man, estimated to be around 32 years old, was crossing the tracks. Locals noticed the body near the tracks and alerted authorities.On Tuesday morning, Satyajit Shrimali, 50, a resident of Swatantrya Senani Nagar in Naranpura, was also hit by a train while attempting to cross the tracks at the same stretch. The bodies have been sent for autopsy. Police and railway authorities have begun an investigation. An official from Vadaj police station said preliminary findings suggest the incidents occurred during the night and early morning hours. “The exact circumstances in which the train struck the two men are not clear yet. We are examining all possibilities, including accident and suicide,” he said.Police registered cases of accidental death in both incidents and launched efforts to identify the second victim and trace his family members. Further details are expected after post-mortem reports and the completion of initial investigations, officials said.
