Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee chairman Bharath Mundodi said that the state govt will be urged to issue ration cards to eligible families in Dakshina Kannada district.Presiding over the district-level implementation progress review meeting of the guarantee schemes held at the Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat on Wednesday, he said that a significant number of eligible beneficiaries in the district were waiting for their ration cards. “Ration cards are essential to access benefits under various govt schemes. However, as additional cards have already been issued at the state level, there is currently no provision to issue new ration cards. Therefore, it has been decided to write to the govt seeking permission to conduct a survey across the state and distribute ration cards to newly eligible beneficiaries,” Mundodi said.

Stating that only eligible beneficiaries should take advantage of the guarantee schemes, Mundodi said all departments must work efficiently to resolve people’s issues.Shahul Hameed, chairman of the Sullia Taluk Guarantee Schemes Committee, said that electricity theft had been occurring in the Sullia area for seven years, with fines imposed only for a year. Responding to this, Mundodi instructed Mescom officials to conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action. The commissioning of the Elathur 33/11 KV substation is pending approval from the department of electrical inspectorate, and steps will be taken to commission it immediately, he said.Officials of the department of women and child development informed that under the Gruhalakshmi Scheme, 222 beneficiaries were registered from Jan 24 to Feb 20, with a total of 3,80,630 beneficiaries registered so far.
