Mangaluru: Girl swimmers from Balawana delivered an impressive performance at the Asmita Swimming League (Multi City League), held at the Dr Shivaram Karanth Balawana Swimming Pool in Puttur recently, clinching 20 medals.The Balawana team secured 7 gold medals, 8 silver, and 5 bronze at the event, which aims to encourage and promote girl swimmers across multiple cities.
Sanvi CG emerged as one of the top performers, winning gold medals in the 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly events. Risha P Shetty won bronze medals in 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle, and 50m butterfly. Mahek Ravikumar Kottari secured silver medals in the 50m backstroke, butterfly, 100m backstroke, and breaststroke events.Among other winners, Ishani R Rai bagged gold medals in the 25m butterfly, breaststroke, and freestyle, along with a silver medal in the 25m backstroke. Astha clinched silver medals in the 25m butterfly, breaststroke, and freestyle, while Poorvika SH won bronze medals in the 25m breaststroke and backstroke events.The swimmers were trained under coaches Partha Varanashi, Kranti Teja, Trishul Gowda, Vikas, and Shishil Gowda.Swimmers from Mangaluru and Hassan also participated in the competition. The event was conducted with support from Karnataka Swimming Association in association with the Sports Authority of India and the govt of India.
