Mangaluru: Kavoor police arrested a man and seized ganja and MDMA valued at Rs 11.5 lakh after finding him acting suspiciously near Bangrakulur on Wednesday. The accused is Mohammed Rayees alias Mohammed Rayees Sheikh, 28, from Bhatkal, Uttara Kannada district.The incident was reported when police were on rounds duty within the Kavoor police station limits. While proceeding from Kulur towards Bangrakulur via Kuloor, he noticed a man standing suspiciously beside a scooter on the left side of the road. When police approached him for questioning, he attempted to flee but was detained.

The accused allegedly confessed that he was illegally in possession of ganja and MDMA and was waiting to sell the drugs to a person in Mangaluru, as instructed by an individual named Suhan from Kundapur.Upon inspection, the accused produced the narcotic substances from the scooter’s storage compartment. Police seized 560g of ganja, consisting of flowers, stems, buds, and seeds, with an estimated value of Rs 10,000, and 384g of MDMA, with an estimated value of Rs 11.5 lakh. Police also seized a mobile phone and a scooter. A case was registered.
